A few months ago you learned some phrasal verbs with look (in changing the preposition after the verb “look”, the meaning changes completely). There are many other verbs that are used in forming phrasal verbs. Here is the second edition of “phrasal verbs” – the bête noire of English language learning! This time with “get.”
→ Bill usually gets up at 7 o'clock in the morning.
→ John had a cold but he has got over it now and he feels much better.
→ As a student, I got by on 25$ a day .
→ That's enough chatting. It's time to get down to some serious work!
→ He always tells his parents he has homework to get out of washing the dishes..
→ Even though there are six of them sharing the house, they all get along well with each other.
→ Listen everyone, it's time to stop talking and get on with our class.
→ Although I couldn't speak the language, I managed to get my meaning across when necessary.
→ The bank robbers got away with robbing the bank. The police never found them.
→ Let's get together for lunch one day next week.
